Puberty Part 1

I'm starting a little puberty lesson for all the growing boys and girls out there!!
YAY(ah...kill me now)!!!!!!
So let's start with some Q and A

WHAT is Puberty?
Puberty is a stage in life where you body goes through many processes in order to get you ready for your trip to adulthood.

When does puberty start?
Well puberty is different for boys then girls.
Girls usually start it from 8 to 13 while boys start at 9 to 15.

How do I know when I'm going through Puberty?
Well for girls you may notice some hair under your arm pits or you have buds where your breasts are supposed to be.
For boys you may notice your voice changing or maybe because you can feel a little beard hair growing.
These are all normal and everyone is different

Who should I tell?
First start off with your parents they've also gone through it so they have a clue.
You can also ask your teacher or a doctor.

Now let's talk about your body shape.
Everybody is built differently so you don't have to be self-conscious about how you look
Girls let's see what shape you are.

Boys let's see yours

Drugs+You=bad life

Today we're talking about
TOBACCO
Now you should know if you've seen someone smoke.
Here's the big idea
DON'T SMOKE!!
First here are some chemicals found. There are over 4000 chemical components here are just some examples
  • 1,3-Butadine is a chemical used to manufacture rubber.  According to the CDC, “it may increase risk of cancer in the stomach, blood and lymphatic system.”
  • Acrolein is a gas linked to lung cancer. It inhibits DNA repair and can destroy the lining in the lungs that protects you from lung disease.
  • Arsenic is used to preserve wood.  In humans, it can cause heart disease and cancer.
  • Benzene is used to manufacture other chemicals. It can cause cancer, particularly leukemia, in humans.
  • Cadmium is a metal used to make batteries.  Cadmium can interfere with the repair of damaged DNA, as well as damage the kidneys and the lining of the arteries.
  • Chromium VI is used to make alloy metals, paint and dyes.  It has been proven to be linked to lung cancer.
  • Formaldehyde is a chemical used to kill bacteria and preserve human and animal remains.  It’s a known cause of cancer, one of the main substances linked to chronic lung disease and a very toxic ingredient in secondhand smoke.
  • Polonium-210 is a radioactive element inhaled directly into the airway.  Some studies show that people who smoke a pack-and-a-half of cigarettes a day are receiving the same radiation they’d get from 300-plus X-rays per year!
  • Tar is solid, inhaled chemicals linked with an increased risk for cancer.  It also leaves a sticky, brown residue on your lungs, teeth and fingernails.
Second hand smoke
Just cause your not smoking doesn't mean you are completely safe.
Smoke for the cigar gets into the air and if you're near someone who smokes and breathes it in you are at risk of a heart stroke or even worse! So stay away from people that smoke it's bad for you

Here are some symptoms
Dull skin: One of the first positive changes you'll notice after you quit is significantly brighter, more alive-looking skin. Nurses say they can tell smokers from nonsmokers by their skin alone.
Nagging cough: Walk too fast, step outdoors on a cold day, or inhale steam from a hot shower and all of a sudden you sound like a one-woman TB ward. That's your lungs reacting to an overload of irritation.
Dead sense of smell and taste: Here's one reason why smokers gain weight after they quit: Food all of a sudden tastes awesome, because they can finally really taste it.
Poor sleep: Nicotine is a stimulant and plays havoc with normal sleep patterns.
Poor circulation: Always suffering freezing hands and feet? Your habit may be to blame.
Increased flu risk: Smokers are more likely to get the flu and when they get it, more likely to get really sick from it.
Marriage troubles: Smokers are considerably more likely to divorce than nonsmokers.
Precancerous lesions: Smokers get sore, scaly white patches in their mouths that can lead tooral cancer.
